Anthony Blake Miguel
As a Native Californian I’ve worked long and hard to reveal my true nature through my art. My mantra of “let go” is what drives my work and my life. Through letting go I’ve found I can have and be whatever I desire.
Born in Terminal Island Federal Penitentiary in 1959 to a heroin addicted mother, I grew up on the streets of Hollywood trying to make sense of life and love. Contradictions and hypocrisy drove me to drugs where I hid for many years denying the truth of my artistic expression. Slowly, with many false starts and hiccups I began to climb from the depths of depression to reveal “God” through my artistic expressions as a silversmith and photographer.
Bright colors and uplifting images are created to remind me of the truth of my being and God’s love. “Everywhere you go, God is.”
Through the truth of Agape and right thinking I am now able to step from the shadows and shine as God intended. The past is over and the future is now.
For me, the process of creating isn’t something I have a choice about; I have to do it, I am driven. In spite of all the other things going on in my life the only thing that I can stay focused on is my art.
Living the Agape lifestyle is fulfilling and challenging at the same time. I am constantly reminded that I must be patient, listen to the universe when it answers my questions and go forward without fear. It’s all easier said than done.
